Venezuelan veteran Nehomar Cermeno, 122, impressively kept his WBA super-bantam belt when he quickly started his engine from the outset, positively battered Thai challenger Anurak Thisa, 120.25, and flattened him for the count at 2:19 of the third round on Friday in Wenzhou, China. Cermenofs fusillade of punches was a haymaker that put the game challenger flat so that the referee Bruce McTavish tolled a fatal ten. The newly crowned champ in China last June began to show fireworks in the opening session and had Anurak on the defensive. The second saw Anurak turn aggressive in the beginning, but Cermeno fought back hard with faster combos late in the session. The third became a war with Cermeno being an aggressor whipping the Thailander with more effective shots to the face. The loser was carried out of the ring on a stretcher. Prior to a knockout, the official tallies were as follows: Takeshi Shimakawa (Japan) 20-18 for Cermeno, Gustavo Padilla (Panama) and Raul Caiz Jr. (US) both 19-19.
WBA supervisor: Kina Malpartida (Peru).
Promoter: Liu Gangfs Max Power Promotions that presented a very successful show to attract the audience.
