ZAMA, KANAGAWA, JAPAN
Former Japanese national super-feather champ Rikki Naito (15-1, 5 KOs), 135, was awarded a razor-thin technical decision (58-57 twice and 57-57) over Filipino Argie Toquero (9-5-2, 7 KOs), 134.5, at 1:03 of the sixth round in a scheduled eight on Saturday in Kanagawa prefecture, Japan. It was a show held at the US military camp in Zama, where Naito suffered bad gashes on both eyebrows caused by accidental butts and consequently became unable to go on with deteriorating bleeding, so a technical decision was taken for the competitive bout of the southpaws.
Toquero had Naito staggering with a solid right in the second, but Naito retaliated well to have his head swivel with his body following suit in round three. It became a good see-saw battle, but Naitofs cuts finally caused a halt midway in round six.
Ex-OPBF 154-pound champ Charles Bellamy, 151.75, defeated Japan-based Colombian Elfelos Vega, 154, by a unanimous decision (78-76, 77-75, 77-76) over eight.
OPBF female bantam champ Tsunami Tenkai, 117.5, easily finished Thailander Tantip Sithsaithong, 116.25, at 1:43 of the second session.
The show greatly entertained the audience including military workers, their families and general people as well.
Promoter: Katsumata Promotions.
